What should a builder website include?

A good builder website should name every job you take on, show finished projects and keep them current, state your areas plainly, put your credentials where deposit-payers will see them, and give people a proper way to describe the project they want quoted.

  • Your work, named job by job

'Building work' is not what anyone types. Extensions, loft conversions, renovations, garage conversions — each is its own search, made by someone who already knows what they want built.

  • A portfolio that doesn't stop

Customers judge a builder on finished work. An extension handed over in spring says more about your standard today than one from years back — a portfolio that grows reads as a business in demand.

  • Where you work, stated plainly

An extension keeps your vans on one street for weeks, so how far you'll travel is a real business decision. Name your areas, and the enquiries that reach you are jobs you can actually take.

  • Credentials where they can be seen

Building work means deposits, and deposits mean checking. If you're FMB-vetted, TrustMark-registered or CHAS-accredited, that belongs where a customer weighing a deposit will see it.

  • A quote route built for projects

Nobody hires a builder at two in the morning. A proper enquiry form — with room to describe the project — earns its place here, with your number on every page for those who'd rather talk.

  • A number for the neighbours

Scaffolding is its own advertising: the couple two doors down have watched your job take shape for a month. When they look you up, the site they find needs a number they can ring.

Building work is usually a five-figure decision paid in stages, so customers research it like one — comparing quotes over weeks, reading reviews and checking credentials before anyone commits serious money. Your website has one job in that process: pass the inspection before you have even quoted.

Every builder website we build carries all six — that is the starting structure, not an upgrade.

An example builder website.

This is our Glasgow builder demo — the structure we build for building firms, finished: named pages for extensions and conversions, a project gallery, customer reviews and credentials on show.

EXAMPLE BUILD

For a builder, we build around project types, trust, photos, reviews and quote enquiries.

  • Extensions
  • Loft conversions
  • Renovations
  • Garage conversions
  • Project gallery
  • Customer reviews
  • Tap-to-call contact
  • Quote requests

The checks that come with deposits.

We make the qualifications and memberships you actually hold easy for customers to see.

Building work is paid in stages, starting with a deposit — so customers check builders the way lenders check borrowers: quotes compared, reviews read, credentials looked up before anyone commits.

The one customers know

FMB

The Federation of Master Builders — the industry’s largest trade association, and a name deposit-payers recognise: builders are vetted, and their work independently inspected, before they can join.

How it can appear on your site

FMB Memberyour membership, shown here

Shown beside your projects and your quote route — only where you hold the membership.

  • TrustMark

The government-endorsed quality scheme for work in and around the home.

  • CHAS

A health-and-safety accreditation showing a contractor’s practices have been assessed against recognised standards.

  • CSCS

The site-card scheme — cards belong to people, not companies, and show the holder is trained for the work they do on site.

  • Public liability insurance

Cover customers expect on building work — your site states it plainly beside your quote route, where you hold it.

  • Your guarantees

Where you offer guarantees on the work, they belong in plain sight beside the projects they cover.

None of these are ours to hand out — you earn them, and not every builder carries every one. We show the ones you do hold, where a deposit-payer will see them.

All of it — the build, your web address, the launch — comes as one price.

Builder questions, answered.

All my work comes from recommendations — what would a website add?

A recommendation starts the journey, but it rarely finishes it. When your name is passed across a fence or around a kitchen table, the next step is usually a search — your work, your areas, your credentials — before anyone commits serious money. A recommendation that can be checked carries further than one that can't.

Why do customers check builders so carefully?

Because the stakes are high on both sides. Building work is usually paid in stages, starting with a deposit, and the customer lives with the result for decades — so they compare quotes, read up and look for evidence before committing. A website that shows your finished jobs and your credentials is built to pass exactly that inspection.

Do extensions and loft conversions get their own pages?

Yes — you choose the work you take on when you sign up, and each job type gets its own page. Extensions, lofts, renovations, garage conversions: name the jobs you want more of and the site is built around them, and you can add or change them later.

How recent should the work in my portfolio be?

As recent as you can make it. A portfolio that stopped updating years ago quietly suggests the business slowed down with it, while a fresh extension or loft shows customers what your work looks like now. Send new photos over whenever a job finishes and we add them for you.

What if I don't have good photos of my jobs?

Use what you have — honest phone photos of real jobs persuade more than perfect stock ever will. Where there are gaps, we include professional trade images to start with, and you can replace them with your own finished projects whenever you are ready.

Can I update the site myself as jobs finish?

Yes — and it is about as hard as sending a text. Add photos of a finished job straight from your phone, or send us the change in plain words and a real person makes it. Updates are included in the monthly price.
